Australian Composers’ School
October 9 — October 13
With the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra.
The TSO Australian Composers’ School is a unique opportunity to experience an intense week of orchestral composition training in one of Australia’s most beautiful cities. The aim of the Composers’ School is to seek out and develop talented composers who wish to hone their orchestral writing skills.
Successful applicants will travel to Tasmania to work closely with leading composers, hear their own music performed by a professional symphony orchestra, learn more about the art of composition through an orchestration task and other assignments prior to the school, rehearsals, workshops and lectures. The week will include a presentation of works from the Composers’ School which will be recorded with the assistance of ABC Classic FM. This exciting program is an integral part of the TSO’s Australian Music Program.
In 2017 the Australian Composers’ School staff are Paul Stanhope (director), Brenton Broadstock (tutor), Jessica Wells (tutor) and Elena Schwarz (conductor).
